Angelique
by Karen A. Romanko

She is a perfect creation,
platinum hair framing
pure, porcelain skin,
white satin cloak
whispering delicate contours

She rides through the night
in a rose and pearl sleigh,
forming the quiet with her lips,
clapping peace with her hands
on bough-hugged backroads

In the morning, she returns--
alabaster skin flushed,
fur hat scented with pine--
and sits above the snowy garland
bringing joy with a demure smile
